- Cheesy Dog Biscuits
Cheesy Dog Biscuits 1 cup rolled oats 1/3 cup margarine 1 cup boiling water 3/4 cup cornmeal 2 tsp chicken/beef bouillon 1/2 cup milk 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 egg, beaten 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour Preheat oven to 325 degrees; grease cookie sheets. In large bowl, combine rolled oats, margarine and boiling water; let stand 10 minutes. Stir in cornmeal, bouillon, milk, cheese and egg; mix well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition to form a stiff dough. On floured surface, knead in remaining flour until dough is smooth and no longer sticky, 3- 4 minutes. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2 inch thickness, cut with bone shaped cookie cutter. Place an inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake 325 degrees 35-45 minutes on until browned. Thoroughly cool. Store loosely covered. Makes 3 1/2 dozen large, or 8 dozen small, dog biscuits.

PEANUT BUTTER DOG BISCUITS Ada Jane Cowper Stir dry ingredients together in large bowl 1 ½ cup unbleached flour ½ cup cornmeal 1 ½ cup whole wheat flour 1/8 cup nonfat dry milk Add: ¼ cup creamy peanut butter 1 egg, slightly beaten Add water gradually 1 to 1 ¼ cup water Dough should be stiff. Knead dough and roll out to ¼ “ thick. Cut with a cookie cutter. Place on baking sheet. Bake in 350 oven for 40 minutes to one hour. Open oven door and let the cookies stay inside for 5 hours or overnight. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator.

LIVER AND CORNBREAD TREATS Marian von Hanstein Put into a blender: 1 container of chicken livers, drained (can be used raw or cooked 4 cloves of garlic 1 egg 2 tbs. butter or margarine 1 box Jiffy or Betty Crocker corn bread mix 1/3 cup milk Bake in 11×7 buttered pan for 18 minutes at 400F. Check with toothpick. Slice and cube for treats. It can be frozen in pieces. Because it is rich, use it sparingly.
