A Little Dog Angel
By Noah M. Holland
High up in the courts of heaven today
a little dog angel waits;
with the other angels he will not play,
but he sits alone at the gates.
“For I know my master will come” says he,
“and when he comes he will call for me.”
The other angels pass him by
As they hurry toward the throne,
And he watches them with a wistful eye
as he sits at the gates alone.
“But I know if I just wait patiently
that someday my master will call for me.”
And his master, down on earth below,
as he sits in his easy chair,
forgets sometimes, and whispers low
to the dog who is not there.
And the little dog angel cocks his ears
and dreams that his master’s voice he hears.
And when at last his master waits
outside in the dark and cold,
for the hand of death to open the door,
that leads to those courts of gold,
he will hear a sound through the gathering dark,
a little dog angel’s bark.

Tribute to a Best Friend
By Unknown Author
Sunlight streams through window pane onto a spot on the floor…
then I remember,
it’s where you used to lie, but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound…
then I remember,
it’s where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill,
then I remember,
it can’t be yours — your golden voice is still.
But I’ll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall,
and lay them with the absent voice and unused dish along the wall.
I’ll wrap these treasured memories in a blanket of my love,
and keep them for my best friend until we meet above.
Lend Me A Pup
By Unknown Author
I will lend to you for awhile a puppy, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is gone.
Maybe for 12 or 14 years, or maybe for 2 or 3
But will you, till I call him back
take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you and
(should his stay be brief)
you’ll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that he will stay
since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.
I’ve looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true,
And from the fold that crowd life’s land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labor vain,
nor hate me when I come to take
my pup back again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
“Dear Lord, They Will Be Done,”
For all the joys this pup will bring
the risk of grief you’ll run.
Will you shelter him with tenderness,
Will you love him while you may?
And for the happiness you’ll know
forever grateful stay?
But should I call him back
much sooner than you’ve planned,
please brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand.
If, by your love, you’ve managed
my wishes to achieve,
In memory of him that you’ve loved,
cherish every moment with your faithful bundle,
and know he loved you too.

BEAR AND HIS BEST FRIEND Too love a Dog: Oh where did all the year’s go ? And then the Journey did begin We traveled, loved, and played, Oh the Journey that we shared I love your goofy smile, You were there to hold my tear’s You lay upon my feet right now=20 But, for you my dog, I know And so, when that tomorrow comes I will set your spirit free And ” Tomorrow” will come too soon I know you will always be with me SO, to you my ” Beloved Dog” Author, Sue Crandell Beauby Jimmy Stewart He never came to me when I would call Unless I had a tennis ball, Or he felt like it, But mostly he didn’t come at all. When he was young He never learned to heel Or sit or stay, He did things his way. Discipline was not his bag But when you were with him things sure didn’t drag. He’d dig up a rosebush just to spite me, And when I’d grab him, he’d turn and bite me. He bit lots of folks from day to day, The delivery boy was his favorite prey. The gas man wouldn’t read our meter, He said we owned a real man-eater. He set the house on fire But the story’s long to tell. Suffice it to say that he survived And the house survived as well. On the evening walks, and Gloria took him, He was always first out the door. The Old One and I brought up the rear Because our bones were sore. He would charge up the street with Mom hanging on, What a beautiful pair they were! And if it was still light and the tourists were out, They created a bit of a stir. But every once in a while, he would stop in his tracks And with a frown on his face look around. It was just to make sure that the Old One was there And would follow him where he was bound. We are early-to-bedders at our house– I guess I’m the first to retire. And as I’d leave the room he’d look at me And get up from his place by the fire. He knew where the tennis balls were upstairs, And I’d give him one for a while. He would push it under the bed with his nose And I’d fish it out with a smile. And before very long He’d tire of the ball And be asleep in his corner In no time at all. And there were nights when I’d feel him Climb upon our bed And lie between us, And I’d pat his head. And there were nights when I’d feel this stare And I’d wake up and he’d be sitting there And I reach out my hand and stroke his hair. And sometimes I’d feel him sigh and I think I know the reason why. He would wake up at night And he would have this fear Of the dark, of life, of lots of things, And he’d be glad to have me near. And now he’s dead. And there are nights when I think I feel him Climb upon our bed and lie between us, And I pat his head. And there are nights when I think I feel that stare And I reach out my hand to stroke his hair, But he’s not there. Oh, how I wish that wasn’t so, I’ll always love a dog named Beau.

DEAR FRIEND JOEL N MISS SARA
Dogs, lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion. There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price. ”― Dean Koontz MISS DIAMOND
Until We Meet in Heaven “Our Diamond was a surprise 10th birthday present for our son, David. We arrived at Sharon’s house in Hartsville, SC and David still did not know why we were there. She led him out to her backyard and when he saw all those puppies pouncing around, tears started streaming down his face. Diamond was perfect for David, we all just sensed that she was his even though there were lots of choices. The joy and love of having Diamond in our family for 10 years cannot be put into words. We honored her with a cross made out of tennis balls because she likes nothing better than fetching tennis balls out of the pool. She could get 2 in her mouth at once! Yes, she will always be in our “hearts”, but we spelled it “Harts” on her grave stone because she was born in Hartsville. Thank you Sharon for a dog like none other.” OWNED BY SHARON HOPKINS TEXAS( NOT MY DIAMOND) GOLDMINER FULL SPEED AHEAD

I wanted to tell you our sweet Libby passed away a couple of days ago. She was about 12 1/2 years old. Missing You I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. It’s possible for me to be so near you everyday. You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew… The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. – Colleen Fitzsimmons WE MISS YOU MISS MANDY
